In NC there is no Castle Doctrine and you have a duty to retreat. You also can not shoot an intruder unless there is a threat...ie. If a thug walks in says hi and starts taking stuff, you cannot legally shoot him. There must be a "fear for life" and you better be able to articulate it.
We as legal gun owners when forced into using deadly force should not be articulating anything to anyone except an attorney. If you shoot someone keep your mouth shut, let them cuff you, and call an attorney.
The absolute worst thing you can do is what George Zimmerman did...he ran his mouth and look where it got him. He even took the LEO's back to the crime scene the next day. Major, MAJOR mistake.
