Drop me a line and when I'm in town I can walk you through the hand load process, let you load a few. Actually, I could use some help with my 300, 06... J/K but getting started can seem to be an overwheleming task.
Surf over to Shooters pro shop and take a look, you gotta keep looking, at the 44 mag bullets. Cheap prices on quality bullets.

Yeah, you have to start reloading if you want to be able to afford enough shooting to get good with a revolver. As far as hunting revolvers go, it would be hard to beat that Super Blackhawk. Shooting a deer with a revolver has been on my list of things to do for a couple of years now but to be honest, I just haven't put enough work into practicing. I have a friend who has shot many hundreds of shots this year with his Super Blackhawk and is getting pretty good. Hope he gets a chance at a deer with it.
As practical and effective as your gun is, I want to do the job with an open sight gun and a Colt design if at all possible. I have an Uberti copy of a Colt SAA in 45 Colt that I know will do the job if I could point it in the right direction.

I thought the same thing, and actually hunted once with it with iron sights. My complaint is that it was really made only for optics - the iron sights really aren't that good (there's too much room in the rear sight, so the sight picture is not well defined and it's easy to shoot left or right of the target).
Down the road I might replace the sights with target sights so that I can try it out without the optic on top.

I use the 44mag Taurus Ranging Bull.... Open sights, It is very accurate out to 100 yrds with a good rest.

Substantial, but manageable. Having the longer barrel keeps the muzzle flash down so that you don't feel like there's a fireball coming out of your hands. Just wrap both hands around the grip and let it do its thing. I'm not a big guy, so if I can shoot 20-30 rounds through the gun without issues, then most anyone can.
You do have to fight shooter's flinch, but that comes with practice, especially on the big bores.
I'd love to have the same gun in 41 magnum and compare the recoil. I just couldn't spend the money on that gun AND the pricier ammo, so I went with the easier-to-find 44.
Let me tell you - in comparison, the 357 mag feels like nothing.
