Question about youth hunting

Never thought about this scenario until I was home a few weeks ago:
My stepson wanted to go hunting with me and had been practicing up on shooting his mother's crossbow and I decided he was capable of hunting with it. I was licensed, but only had a gun tag, not a bow tag - would it have been legal to take him hunting with it, or would it have been necessary for me to posess a bow tag? Ended up just taking him out to our property just to be on the safe side.

If you assisted him in no way you could have accompanied him without the bow license. To accompany without any assistance requires no license at all.
