Well getting ready to get started on a smokeless conversion. Seems as if everyone is using the H&R which I like, but one of my question is does it have to be the H&R stainless like you see a lot of people using. I see that CVA makes a 45-70 for less green. And even if you didn't get a stainless or nickel you shouldn't have to worry about cleaning as much since its rifle powder correct? So main questions: can you use any gun style frame etc. as long as its 45-70..#2:Does it really matter stainless vs blued barrel thanks yall!!!

You are correct. Doesn't have to be stainless or an H&R frame. Really any 45-70 break action will work fine. Stainless will be less vulnerable to rust but since smokeless powder is less corrosive than black powder its an overall cleaner process.

I've heard that the regular blued h&R's aren't as accurate as the stainless pro hunter versions.

I've heard that the regular blued h&R's aren't as accurate as the stainless pro hunter versions. I'll have to disagree with that. I've seen blued ones lay down smaller groups than my stainless. Only advantage the stainless has is it is 2" longer which usually means a tad more velocity (<50 fps). Accuracy comes from from finding the right load that your gun likes. There are several little tricks to squeeze a little more accuracy out of them.

I am new to this smokeless style also. I love to shot my TC w/standard powder loads. Does the smokeless muzzle loader have more velocity than stander smoke poles and what is the advantages?

You can get more velocity and more range out of them, and the biggest advantage is you don't have to clean the dang things..I've probably put a little over 100+ shots through mine so far and have only cleaned the barrel 1 time, and it wasn't a real cleaning, just wire brushed it a few tips that was dipped in hoppes #9..

Everything Cecil said plus the fact that you can watch your bullet impact and see the animal after the shot. Can't do that through a cloud of smoke. You loose nostalgia but gain many advantages.
