So why is it that there is basically NO .223 or 5.56 ammo available? I've been stalking several Walmart stores and Academy sports early in the mornings when their stock has come in and they've had NOTHING. Where is it going? The conspiracy theorist in me makes me think there some behind the scenes government involvement to get the ammo manufacturers to NOT manufacture it. What say you?

Wait a couple months and you'll be able to by it by the truckload \:\)
Once they do catch up, they'll overproduce and flood the market.

No, it will be longer than a couple of months. The ammunition manufacturers are running 24/7, but the current demand and backorders are swamping them.
Just like the last time, expect it to be 10+ months or longer, depending on legislation for them to catch up.
Ive told my friends to use this time in history as a learning period. When guns, ammo or accessories that you want or need become available, buy them right then and hang onto them. Replenish your ammo stock after you go shooting.
This isnt the first or last time guns and ammo have dried up and people havent been out of luck finding them.
If it were me, i would find a good reloader guy and get some from him to tide me over til the factory stuff becomes available again.

Black Belt is right.

There are several online ammo houses that show deilvery dates in July and Aug, that deilvery is to THEM and then they have to fill the backorders first.

Something else. You do not need Congress to pass a law on online orders. There are already rules and regulations that can easy be turned on to limit orders or ever ban it outright.

May as well add 22, 7.62x39, 308, and a whole bunch of handgun calibers to that list. Only seeing 270, 280, and a few other things on the shelf atm.

Not just the ammo. All AR platform parts are backordered for months. Saw where Spikes Tactical has on their website:

ANY NEW ORDERS FOR RIFLES, LOWERS AND UPPERS are 12 months estimated timeframe and all orders are paid upfront. Most Parts are going to be 6-12 months as well.
