If I take my 12 year old deer hunting and he is properly outfitted with orange - am I required to wear orange as well? He has his youth rifle and I'm just accompanying him with no type of firearm.
Keep in mind, I'm not asking what is advised, rather what is required. Hunting Guide states the "hunter" is required is all I have found.
Thanks in advance.

if you're talking about this weekend's youth hunt, yes, you must wear orange. page 24 just under the seasons chart.

It is required for the adult on the juvenile hunt.

This was not a juvenile hunt - just a legal date within the regular season.

I recommend it as well. That's why I asked what was required, and not advised. Thank you anyway.

ok - from what i have gathered from the hunting guide - since the 12 year old is fully compliant - and it is not a juvenile hunt - i am not considered a hunter and therefore not required to wear the hunter orange if i go and sit with him on the stand. (still not what i would advise one to do.)

If you assist the "hunter" in any way, you are also hunting.
T.C.A. 70-1-101. Title definitions -- Construction of dates and provisions.
(a) As used in this title, unless the context otherwise indicates, the definitions and rules of construction in this section shall govern the construction of this title, and proclamations and rules and regulations made or adopted by the commission:
(19) "Hunting" means chasing, driving, flushing, attracting, pursuing, worrying, following after or on the trail of, searching for, trapping, shooting at, stalking, or lying in wait for, any wildlife, whether or not such wildlife is then or subsequently captured, killed, taken, or wounded and every act of assistance to any other person, but "hunting" does not include stalking, attracting, searching for, or lying in wait for, wildlife by an unarmed person solely for the purpose of watching wildlife or taking pictures of wildlife;

Thanks for the advice - but you may have missed this little piece while you we're reading a rule interpretation question intended for the twra.
......Keep in mind, I'm not asking what is advised, rather what is required......
