My old neighbor shoots out of his backyard, and the non-lead pellets actually break the sound barrier. Pretty sweet, and they're incredibly accurate.

It all depends on what type of air gun and barrel you have. But as a rule they suck terribly bad and I can almost guarantee you not 1 person uses them when shooting in airgun competitions. The crack of breaking the sound barrier may sound cool, but it does not help in the accuracy dept. I will add that some of the better quality pellet makers (h&n) are working on some new lead free pellets that are showing promise, but lead is by far better right now.

My RWS in 22cal will consistently shoot a 5 shot group at 60 yards that I can cover with a half dollar. I've never shot anything further than that but I know for sure that accuracy past 60 yards wouldn't be an issue. I won't ever own a caliber smaller than 22.
