White House reportedly considering gun control measures beyond assault weapon ban

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/01/06/obama-is-considering-stronger-giun-control/#ixzz2HDqLCLsr

The administration task force led by Vice President Joe Biden is considering such measures as universal background checks for gun buyers, a national gun database, strengthening mental-health checks and tougher penalties for people carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, sources told the newspaper.

So a tougher law for bringing a gun near the school is the answer? How freaking stupid can you be??????????

About the only thing I agree with is strong background checks. Everything else is a waste of tax dollars

When you pull together a bunch of morons who, for the most part, have little if any firearm knowledge and no sack to boot - the results are what we see which is more gun control..

It's up to US to fill these positions with folks who are firearm friendly versus the nut-jobs we've elected in the past.

That and stronger mental health checks and lessening the ability to safeguard those with serious mental health problem-that is the main problem. It is so hard to safeguard the public from these types, thanks to the groups that have no backbone and are set on their wussification of or country. I understand it is a thin-line between infringing on their Rights and protecting the general public, but something has to be done if we're ever gonna see a decrease in these mass-killings.

There are enough gun control laws already on the books. Enforce them, but no new ones. There is no possible way you can stop a madman, set on killing someone, except to kill them first.

The national data base should never be allowed to happen but the other changes I hope will somehow keep guns away from people who dont need them. What is the objection to mental health checks, tougher penalties for giving a juvnile a weapon, or someone caught with a gun on school property that isnt legally carrying it. This all sounds reasonable to me considering the gun violence our country is experiencing, but what do I know Im just a [censored] elitist trophy hunter who doesnt want guns sold to the mentally ill.

What all should a mental health check include?

Should we require employers to provide paid time off to have said evaluations done?

Who is going to be responsible for regulating them?

What happens if a ex or scorned person lies and calls in to authorities and says your mentally unstable.... not true in this case?

More/harsher punishment for criminals is the answer....

When Obama , congress , and the Senators give up their armed security for themselves and family, then I too will gladly give mine up! This is about CONTROL, not gun control.

Well then...

We need to ban cars, because a lot of people are killed in automobile accidents. Heck, there are instances where people are run over by cars on purpose.

We need to ban knives. There are instances where knives are used to kill people.

Baseball bats, we need to ban them, too. They can be used as a weapon.

We need to ban hammers. They can also be used as a weapon used to kill/injure someone.

Rant off.
