Tonight will be the last hunt of the year for me, as always it is a bitter sweet evening. I am glad it is over as i have other things to do like cut wood and work on the drag car, but on the other in about a week or two i will be wishing i could hunt deer again and i will try to satisfy that by some futile attempt to kill a coyote.
Like all the years past this last hunt is very special to me, and some years I actually will kill something. I like to sit and just think about the entire deer season. I like to think about all the deer i have taken and hunts with friends. I like to think about mistakes i have made, great shots I have made and the lucky as heck moments I have had. I dont care what folks say luck is a factor in hunting deer, and id rather be lucky than good. At the end of the evening it just boils down to thanking the good Lord for a great season.
I am blessed to hunt as much as I do, there are a lot of folks out there that can not hunt or hunt a limited amount of time. My bud PMC last week took a land owner and his son who is 40 with cerebral palsy and has a leg that is amputated and he shot a doe from a make shift blind on a back of a golf cart. The fella was tickled.
No matter what we shoot big or small there are a lot of people less fortunate than you or I and if given the opportunity are tickled with any deer they kill.

Well said and I couldnt agree more.
I do have a couple other seasons that begin with the ending of TN deer season though...
#1 being post SEASON scouting!
#2 darn yotes that I let walk for whatever reason during a deer hunt has made the top of priority list to be shot!
#3 always like to get a couple ducks and geese with the bow,
All and all, hope you guys have a great last day hunt this evening. I will be ending mine hunting the same illusive buck that has given me the slip way too many times!
