There is no gun registry in TN so there is no such thing as a "unregistered" gun.

In TN, there's no such thing as an "unregistered" gun. For that matter, there's no such thing as a "registered" gun, either. TN does not require or maintain a "gun registry".
It has been recommended by numerous sources, however, that you somehow document a passing shooting test with whatever pistol you decide to carry.
