Also, I wonder how / if they would bite in a pond of like 6 acres where no boat access is allowed.

Ruger, you've still got that fly rod don't you? Put on a nymph like a bead head hares ear or small wooly bugger and put it under a small bobber (strike indicator). Start in about five feet of water and keep going deeper till you find them. Just twitch the line every cew seconds and watch the indicator. Much deeper than 10 ft and the leader won't be long enough for this method.

I would say "yes" they would bite in a pond as long as you fished in the deep just off the bottom.

Ruger, I don't see any reason why you couldn't catch anything. I suppose if the weather warms up--like it's supposed to this week--they might be inclined to bite. It's worth a try.

Otherwise, you could just stay at work and work some overtime. \:D
Now the fishing idea sounds better, don't it?

If you're after crappie use a minnow or small jig. Bream will take the minnow also but a cricket... If you can find it or red worm would be better.

A slow retrieve with a beetle spin will get either one. The key is fishing tree tops or other brush piles.

Close as you live to it, have you tried floating the North Fork yet? Some nice warm days in the coming week would be a good opportunity to float the stretch from around Latham to Duncans. Forget the fly rod and just stick with about a 5-ft ultra-light spinning outfit, 4-lb line and 1/8-oz white and/or brown rooster tails. Keep it simple. You might be surprised at what you catch. Might even catch some big bream and a few small bass while you're trout fishing! \:D

If you're strictly after bream, I'd just go to Reelfoot.
