What is everyones take on the Spot Hogg sight versus anything else? The Spot Hogg is pricey but is it worth it? And, Is anything else on the market as good and less money?

Look at black gold sights. They are the best imo. Also check out their unconditional guarantee.

They aren't as "bombproof" as some of the Archerytalk folks like to let on. I've owned several over the years and have had to send two (Hogg It & Real Deal) back to be fixed. Some haven't had any problems but what are the chances of one person having two break? They are still good sights although I believe there are better for the money.
The fibers on the Spot Hoggs aren't as bright as the other sights on the market. Wrapped sights included. I personally think the Montana Black Gold sights have the brightest fibers of any on the market. I like them better than any other for hunting and that's what is on my hunting bow. My target bow has an Axcel Pro pin sight on it...great for micro adjustments of individual pins but the overall design of the sight is lacking for what you pay for them. I couldn't get the sight tight with the "tool less" adjustment knobs...had to resort to Allen wrenches to tighten them down through the tool less knobs. Changing fiber optics on them is a pain in the rear as well. Sure Loc's Lethal Weapon is a great pin sight as well for micro adjust but very costly. Another great sight is the CBE Sniper and TEK Hunter. For hunting, my personal favorites would be the Black Gold #1 and CBE Sniper #2.

I have 4 of them. And love every single one and will not trade them for anything.

Ive had a couple, using a hogg it 7 pin with the smallest fibers they make and it is awesome for shooting out to 80 yards, the black golds are very nice as well.

Spot Hogg is good, as well as Black Gold, but personally I like my Viper sight with a 4x lens on my sure-loc. That is what I use for 3d, hunting I use fixed pins.

I know I threw out a pretty pricey sight, but what about the Cobra, Trophy ridge sights etc. Most people sliding into a pro shop don't have an extra couple of hundred bucks laying around for a sight. I also am a believer of "you get what you pay for", but I have killed a many a deer with an ole' cobra steel pin... Any of the lower dollar sights any count anymore? if so which one? And if not, I am going to dig a little deeper in the pocket to play the fiber optic game..Thanks for the comments by the way, I have checked out all the Black Golds, and the Snipers, they are good looking sights. Ebay lists a bunch of Black Gold Montana's which one is best?

If you are going for a more affordable sight, I would look at Black Gold, like others said, and Copper John. Copper John in my opinion makes some of the best fibers in the business.

I really like the Black Gold Rush. Simple design...light weight...super bright fibers...and they run about $80 with full lifetime warranty. I will be getting a new one that is basically the Rush with micro adjust...it's called the Widow Maker.

I have shot Spot Hogg for many years now... And nothing out their is built as good, and has the micro adjustments that a Spot Hogg has. You won't find a better sight for the serious archer..

Stik -- He can't help it...he's on the shooting staff for Spot Hogg. No surprise who he'd be plugging.

I shot Spot Hogg sights LOOOOONNNGG before I was a staff member.. I don't shoot for any company I don't believe in. I don't have too... If you are happy with Viper sights that cool...but they don't have anyhere close to the micro adjustments that a Spot Hogg does.. its just a fact..
