by the textbook, either 3.5 or 4.5, but it's hard to tell because of the tooth decay caused by an abcess. Got the other side?

Easy 4 1/2. Not out of the question that it is 5 1/2.

Ugly? Any deer aged at 4.5 plus is beautiful to me.

Atleast 4.5. I had a feeling that buck was going to have some age to him.

I wish everyone could see how worn down he was. I have never seen a buck so thin. I could see his back bone and feel all his ribs. He was a mess. I will put a post with him in a few days.

Not to bust the excitement bubble but this is a low score deer. BUT... he had me stumped more than once. I will post about it in a few days.

Perhaps now you understand why I honestly believe many mature bucks die of rut stress. It can wear them down to nothing. Until you've actually seen how sorry some of these old bucks are coming out of the rut, you just wouldn't believe it.
