Good deal! Every urban deer that is shot is one less deer/vehicle collision waiting to happen.

Good deal! Every urban deer that is shot is one less deer/vehicle collision waiting to happen. yup. And the owner of the property across the fence doesn't want anyone hunting so there's not much to kill these deer other than cars and coyotes.

I got one in my backyard about 10 years ago. It was a Saturday morning and I was cooking pancakes. Looked out the window and the yard was full of does and some bucks were wandering in chasing them around. I got my 25-06 and slipped out to the sunroom and eased the door open. When a pretty good wide 6 point came out, I lowered the boom on him. It was about 165 yards - the longest shot on a deer for me at that time. (I have a long narrow yard.) IT's definitely convenient to get one in the yard, isn't it? Congratulations.
On point of interest here is that this was the year I had fertilized the white oaks in my yard and I saw lots more deer back there that Fall than ever before or since.

Tell ya something interesting. Local town here called Amherst (I'm back in Buffalo, NY). A co-worker has SLAPPED deer eating his garden flowers. Place is overrun with backyard deer and apparently no one owns archery equipment. 2 successive light winters (and 2 more not so bad) and the herd has exploded. Last year my Boss had 3 car-deer collisions.
