Also, I wonder how / if they would bite in a pond of like 6 acres where no boat access is allowed.

Ruger, you've still got that fly rod don't you? Put on a nymph like a bead head hares ear or small wooly bugger and put it under a small bobber (strike indicator). Start in about five feet of water and keep going deeper till you find them. Just twitch the line every cew seconds and watch the indicator. Much deeper than 10 ft and the leader won't be long enough for this method.

I would say "yes" they would bite in a pond as long as you fished in the deep just off the bottom.

I catch them year round... Just a little deeper in the winter. Going after them and crappie tomorrow on Douglas.

What would you suggest a guy to use for bait ?? small jigs ?? wax worms ??
& about how deep are ya talk'n ??

If you're after crappie use a minnow or small jig. Bream will take the minnow also but a cricket... If you can find it or red worm would be better.
A slow retrieve with a beetle spin will get either one. The key is fishing tree tops or other brush piles.
