savage customer service has not impressed me the only issue i had was a weak magazine spring and it was several months before i got the rifle back (warranty) if you go with remington the triggers are easy to adjust and are as good as the accutriggers but stay away from the model 710 725 and 770 I had great customer service with Savage. They replaced the barrel of my 204 with no problem.

I would take the 308 over 270. In Savage

270 it faster and flatter shooting, I don't like savage rifles so I'd get a Remington 700 in 270

Dealer's choice. Either caliber is good for most things. My preference is 308, although I've killed many a deer with 270 just as dead.
I've always shot a Remington and no troubles here. However, I hear the Savage Accutrigger is pretty slick.
