I assume that coyotes and bobcats are after turkeys as often as they can get them, but I never hear anyone talking about using a hen call for them.
I was thinking about taking a turkey call with me for this purpose on the last deer hunt of the year, since I'll likely go to an area that has a high coyote population. I don't own any traditional predator calls and won't really have an opportunity to buy one by tomorrow.
Is this not typically done because it's not very effective? I didn't see any regulations on the matter, except that you can't attempt to call them on any WMAs from March 1 until opening day of turkey season.
Thanks for the input!

I have several trukey "distress" call on my foxpro and have attempted to use them late February, however i was unsuccessful. It might work on a really hungry coyote, just never tried it enuff. HOWEVER...you can take a diaphram mouth call and use it as a predator call...instead of putting or purring use more tounge pressure and be lil more forceble with air and make a sound like a baby crying...WHAAA WHAAAAAAAA....takes a little practice but cheap, effective, and leaves your hands completely free.

Ive had a total of only two coyotes come to the hen decoy and calling, one took the decoy and spit it out when it rec'd the # 4x6 duplex load to the neck, totally freaked me out....these were both seen and shot at during turkey season. al
