I have had more than one instance while carrying a juvi that I wish we were shooting tracers.. one time using hornady lever ammo in 30-30 my daughter made a perfect shot on a buck.. it ran off like aboslutly nothing was wrong.. I was completely convienced she had missed.. just by chance i spotted a spot of blood about 1/4 in dia.. we finally found it dead as a hammer.. but almost didnt even look for it.. had she been shooting tracers I could have seen the impact.. just wondering.. thanks!

Sorry, I don't know enough about the makeup of tracers to answer your question.
They shouldn't be, so I guess it is something that needs to be added to the Manner and Means proclamation this spring to clarify.

For what its worth, I saw a hunting show several years ago where a hunter shot a buck and when they replayed the shot in slow motion you could see they were using a tracer. I think it was on one of the early years of hunting university with Dirt King and Charlie Ingram. Not sure where they were hunting though.

I think tracer rounds are FMJ. So since FMJ's are illegal,i'd say probably not legal.

This is a question for clarification—not being argumentative. What is the difference between tracer rifle ammunition (beside the fact that tracer are only available in FMJ, which are already illegal), and tracer nocks for archery? Does this mean that tracer nocks are on the table to be banned?

No problem with the tracer nocks.
And, I have no problem with the tracer concept for bullets. However, I've never seen a sporting tracer round. All that I have seen are military/target shooting rounds that are FMJ. All FMJ is illegal for hunting.

Thank you for the link.
The increased fire danger issues makes that concept a no-go for us. There have been times of extreme fire danger where there has been consideration (limited) of an emergency shutdown of a deer season.
