Are you going to try to use fresh squirrels for the competition, or use frozen ones from this season? If I start stacking them up, I can help you out.

Maybe you could come up with an appetizer that uses squirrel testicles and bot fly larvae from the early season ones...

OK. I just crossed the line. Pressing "Submit" before I stop myself!

Poser, are you going to be at the vous? I can save squirrels with the hearts in the freezer and bring em then.

That's not a bad idea. I definitely want to enter a dish that you know for sure you are eating a squirrel. In other words, I'm not looking to bury squirrel meat in Dumplins, gravy, gumbo etc. I like those dishes, but don't think they'll win a competition because that's what everyone does.

Let me know....after 7 years, it turn out ol' Leroy is a squirrel catcher.

I suspect he spooked off the neighborhood tomcat that is most likely the culprit in this case. Knowing Leroy, this is likely a "finders-keepers" scenario, rather than a "LOOK WHAT I GOT!"

Poser, I waas 6 years and and Mr. Grahm down the street was a real outdoorsman, always sharing panfish and game. He shot a bunch of squirrels and I was standing there watching him clean them and he gave me two that needed work. I came home carrying two squirrels and without a word my Dad jumped up, grabbed the squirrels and a kitchen knife and was yelling at Mom to get the cornbread pan out. Skinned out, crisco in the pan, cornbread heating up, one of my great memories, Dad doing the cooking, telling stories about how he was so hungry he ran them down.

If I can get home I promise to take my boys out after some. Any tips for field care, skinning, etc?

You have a great time. If you need a taster, My Wife likes anything with jalapenos.
