Maybe I've overlooked it, but just to clarify, once deer season closes center fire guns are allowed to be hunted with for coyotes ?? correct ??

Correct, on private land. Public land rules vary.

Yes. However, remember that on Jan. 12-13 there will be a Young Sportsman deer hunt where the only person's legal to use centerfire weapons will be the legal Young Sportsman hunters.
And, Ruger is 100% correct. The regulations on WMAs varies, so you need to check on each WMA for what is legal.

SCN - What would it take to make the WMA ruling consistant across the board for all WMA's i.e. Centerfire for predators as a specific season on WMA, like LBL (February)? And if that aint gonna work can we get a concrete listing on WMA's without centerfire restrictions during non big game seasons. I live 5 minutes from Cheatham and have stopped hunting predators there with an anemic rimfire due to a couple of bad experiences. I would travel to other WMA's if i knew i would not be undergunned, and the TWRA Guide is sometimes hard for those of us educated in Mississippi to make heads or tails of.

X2
I would love to hit the huge river bottoms of yahnali with my 22-250 or my 223 but watching a mile long field holding a 17 hmr is kinda intimidating .
I thought all wma were the same about the rimfire, what would the others be or how would they be listed?

Meeman-Shelby Forest in Shelby County, outside of Memphis (for example) does not allow any centerfire or rimfire weapons...just as an example.
It's archery/shotgun/MZ only during gun season. So like Ruger said - the particular WMA matters. Just open the guide and look up the name of the WMA you are considering going to.
