Thanks guys
BSK. Why do you think maybe 2.5? I am wondering that too. Looking at the wear at the far back of the last tooth it looks like it should definitely be 3.5.

There is some wear on the 2nd cusp of the 4th tooth (first molar), but I wouldn't call it significant wear. The dentine is not wider than the enamel. In addition, the crests of the 4th tooth are still very high and sharp.
However, the first three teeth (premolars) show more wear than would be normal for a 2 1/2, which is why I'm leaning towards 3 1/2.

Definitely 2 1/2 and might be 3 1/2. But certainly no older than 3 1/2.
Why do you say "certainly no older" .....I thought tooth wear set the minimum age?? A few years ago a guy on here had a bruiser, everybody said def 2.5 until they saw the buck, and then a cross section of the tooth showed older. The jawbone had the minimal amount of wear you would expect any 2 year old to have, in reality he was probably 4 years old.
I think this deer is at least 3.5.....there is defined wear on all molars and premolars, and the last cusp of the 3rd molar is definately worn down and longer concave. In my experience that is a clue to an older deer whose teeth are worn lightly elsewhere.

He field dressed at 155 pounds I do believe. But was killed late in the rut (Shotgun season) so I'm sure he had lost some weight by then
Scored 149 1/8

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if that buck was 4 years old. Congrats.
