I know they imposed a $25 tax on firearm purchases to pay for healthcare costs associated with "gun violence"...
lol, that was actually passed.

Democrats have a 40-17 majority in the Illinois Senate and a 71-47 majority in the Illinois House. The Governor is also a Democrat. There are few States, if any, where it is worse to be a Republican voter or a conservative voter or a 2nd Amendment supporter. I have friends that live and work around Chicago. They hate everything about Illinois State politics. If I were them I would move.

I know it passed the Committee but wasn't sure about the Senate yet. It still has to go to the House if it did.

If guns are outlawed there, they won't have a choice.

NY is pushing a similar bit of legislation.
Very similar to the ban in Illinois. Broad ban on most modern firearms and pump actions. Vertical foregrips are also now an evil feature.
Blanket authority for state police to ban guns not suitable for sporting purposes. Ends grandfathering for magazines. Turn them in.
Makes possession of a modern firearm a first degree crime instead of a third degree crime. You’ll go away for a long time for possessing a modern firearm manufactured after the enactment of this bill.

It said semi auto rifle and handguns
That leaves shotguns and muzzleloaders and bows that they have to use now

It could be America's first bowhunting-only State!
