I often see coons out in daytime during Oct, but that seems to scale back tremendously once winter sets in.

LMAO....coulduv sended you Minaska's "Crumbling Coons" DVD with brass...I have a couple of times and it is the craziest thing you will ever see...they WILL attack your ecaller if you cant get on them fast enuff and they generally come to the call PI$$T off...seems as though they do not like one of their own being attacked.

Dang, I just now saw this. Yes, I coon hunt with a call, sometimes during the day but mostly at night. It is NOT illegal to call coons at night as long as you don't use a e-call. They respond to a squaller VERY well! Speaking of squallers, that's all you can use at night, no predator calls of any sort.

What is your night technique? I like to get out in a large field or opening of any sorts where I can see a tree line and simply start hitting the squaller. I leave the light off until I've called a few times, maybe twenty or thirty second call sequences and then shine and repeat. Wait maybe two minutes in between calling. If in the timber, you can usually hear them when they get close, they come hard and fast!
