this spring i was gonna try to plant something in our feild to attract deer what is something that does not need much water and mostly live on its own that a first timer should plant?

Buckwheat would be an easy one for a first timer on poorer soils. Soybeans are fairly easy to grow on better soils but acreage needs to a few acres in high deer density areas. Chicory is also fairly hardy in my opinion for another option. Most important however is to take a soil test and go from there.

Whitetail Institutes "Extreme" mix is advertised for just such conditions. I've never tried it though so can't say.
