just checking here, I think I am good to go, but if I could talk my little brother (13 years old) into squirrel hunting or something, I dont have to be 21 to take him do I? even though I will be 21 on the end of May. I would have to be 21 to take him on the juvi deer or turkey hunt though, right? Nothing is even mentioned, I was just thinking of throwing it out to him that we could go try and shoot something. He's not into the outdoors like I am, but who knows, he might enjoy shooting a squirrel or two. I would buy him the junior license which covers everything, including WMA permits, correct? I have taken him fishing in the past and he enjoyed catching 15 pound carp so I might offer to take him hunting.
So to put the questions together - 1, do I have to be a certain age to take a 13 year old small game hunting, 2, what about on juvenile big game hunts, 3, the juvy license covers all hunting and fishing permits, including WMA, correct?
Thanks

It doesn't look like it would work for you right now.
1. He is required to be Hunter Safety certified before any hunting. He can get around that with the Apprentice license for one year, but he has to have someone at least 21 years of age that is HS certified that can take immediate control of the hunting weapon.
2. He would need the Type 002 Junior Hunt/Fish/Trap LICENSE. That license does not cover ANY permits.
3. To hunt big game on a WMA or participate in the Special Season antlerless hunts, he would need a Type 94 PERMIT.
4. To hunt small game on a WMA, he must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older with a valid WMA Small Game permit.

Ok thanks. Guess I will wait till another time. Also I forgot about the hunters safety, thanks for reminding me. Also I didn't know the junior license didn't cover any permits. I thought it was like a sportsmans license except for kids.

Hope you can get him interested. A good start would be to get him hunter safety certified. There normally are some classes before the juvenile turkey hunt.
Once you turn 21 you will be good to go with him.
