DA, throwing academic flames at schools you know little about doesn't help your cause. The Dames are still losing Monday night. By the way, more Notre Dame players have been arrested since Brian Kelly began coaching there than Saban has had arrested in Tuscaloosa in the same time period. Touchdown Jesus doesn't mean what it used to. Also, we could get into the priest talk...

Not true - there have been 3 player arrests at each school in the past 3 years. Alabama had a lot of player arrests when Saban first got there, but he has done a good job of cleaning up the off the field issues, in my opinion.

Notre Dame is the first school in the BCS era to be ranked No. 1 in both the current BCS standings and the current NCAA Graduation Success Rate rankings. It's certainly a commendable achievement. The only other football team to come remotely close in recent history is Stanford. I think Touchdown Jesus is in pretty good standing these days.

I think it would be interesting to see what the Vandy coach could do at a big time program that has lower admission standards for high school players. I think that's what DA was getting at.

The fact of the matter is that these two teams have played very comparable schedules this year.

Alabama has played four ranked teams to three for Notre Dame. The Irish, however, have played seven FBS teams with winning records while 'Bama has played six.

Notre Dame has played nine 2012 bowl teams while Alabama has played just seven.

Among teams currently ranked in the BCS standings, Alabama has played three of the top nine in Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M. Notre Dame, on the other hand, has played just one Top 10 team (Stanford).

When it comes down to it, to say that either of these teams has played a considerably tougher schedule than the other would be irresponsible and inaccurate.

.....All that being said, Alabama will crush Notre Dame.

Alabama 24
Notre Dame 6

Vermin, I stand by my statement and I know exactly what DA was intending to say. BTW, should Kelly get more than one player that could get drafted in the first round, that precious graduation rate will take a hit. The Domers, as an institution, don't play by the same rules as everyone else and are quite ruthless in their methods of protecting their school with no regard for the wellbeing of outsiders. Please don't think I'm dumb enough to fall for the innocent Irish in South Bend crap.

You stand by your incorrect statement about arrests? Why would you stand by something that's factually incorrect?

Notre Dame:
2011 Michael Floyd - DUI
2012 Tommy Rees - resisting arrest, battery to law enforcement, minor consumption and public intoxication
2012 Carlo Calabrese - disorderly conduct

Alabama:
2011 Mark Barron - hindering prosecution
2011 Brent Calloway - marijuana possession
2012 Deandre Kirkpatrick - marijuana possession

Why would ND's graduation rate take a hit? They have 2 first round draft picks on the team who both have their degrees. ND players have to go to classes and stay on the path to graduation or they don't play. Nice try, though.

You're right about one thing - ND doesn't play by the same rules. For better or worse, they limit themselves with high admission standards for scholarship athletes. Unfortunately, many of the elite players in the SEC and other major conferences don't qualify academically at ND. The result is that ND has a smaller pool of high school talent to recruit from. This is not an advantage. ND doesn't offer any easy study majors specifically designed for athletes. This is not an advantage. ND doesn't have special dorms for athletes. The football players live with the regular students. This is not an advantage, although many ND players like the experience of being part of the regular student body. ND doesn't have any co-ed dorms. This is not an advantage. ND doesn't oversign high school recruits and grayshirt players like some other major programs do. This is not an advantage. The weather is also lousy most of the year and the city of South Bend and the surrounding regions is a relatively economically depressed, former rust belt area with a pretty lame social scene. These are not advantages. These are all facts. If you want to lay some facts on the table, then by all means please do so.

Does ND have flaws? Sure, plenty. But you are barking up the wrong tree with talk of arrests and not playing by the same rules.

Vermin, you sound like you are already setting the stage for your post game discussion following a pummeling by Alabama.

"Bama's players are Thugs"
"At Notre Dame we care about more than Football"
"Notre Dames players are smarter than yall"
...academic standards, holier than thou etc...

Keep the faith man, if a few of Alabama's players come down with the Flu or the bus crashes on the way to Miami Notre Dame could win.
