Even though Congress - the republicans, were virtually impotent, I think it was Obama's intent all along for us to go over the cliff. He'll get more tax dollars to spend and the republicans will get all the blame from the media.
Agreed; he will then swoop in and save the middle class with tax relief. The Republicans will have some leverage with the debt limit, but they will take it right to the last second and just raise it higher without any spending cuts.
