Turkeys do a lot of scratching while feeding in the woods, look for areas where the leaves have been overturned in a large area.
Turkeys also "dust" to remove ticks, mites and lice, these dusting areas will be bowl shaped and usually in loose soil. My personal experience has been that I haven't seen gobblers dusting, only hens but I'm sure gobblers dust as well, regardless, if the hens are there in spring the gobblers usually aren't far behind.

You can also look for turkey droppings under large trees where they roost, they like large trees with good horizontal limbs to roost on. Also they will tend to roost near water if available so check those areas with large trees.

Turkeys will begin to split up out of their winter flocks around the time the season starts so you'll have to continue to scout as they may begin to use areas they weren't using much during the winter.

One other important thing is to learn what turkeys sound like, most people recognize the gobble and yelp but learn the subtle sounds they make, the clucks and purrs, I can't count the number of times I've located birds just from a random cluck from a hen.

With all that said, if you can find where they roost and where they feed you are ahead of the game.
