Sorry to hear you've had a bad year. But after all it is hunting and as such there are no guarantees for success. Hope you've had a good time trying.

I hear ya!
I got bow hunt once, muzzle load once...hunted a few days of rifle in Nov., then got to hunt quite a bit between Christmas and today. Most deer I saw were well out of range...until this morning...finally killed my second doe of the year for the freezer.
I had the hardest time this year. I really tried to pay close attention to scent control this year and got busted more than ever before. When I quit caring, I was more successful.
I will be putting in more time on boot leather and learning new places on this club after deer, before and during turkey...

Yes this has to be the roughest season for me so far. i got one doe all season and that was with a bow at 50 yards. I got pure lucky on that shot.

I know the feeling. 2004 was horrible for me. It seemed like the wind blew and it rained every time I stepped out of the house. Duck hunters were out a lot that year as water was standing in all the fields around the farm so I blamed them for spooking the deer but the sorry weather was probably more to blame. I didn't see a single deer until the last Saturday of the season when a pretty good buck stepped out shortly before dark. I sat down and steadied my rifle and proceeded to miss him 4 times in a row. He just stood there as a train was coming by about 50 yards from me and the noise drowned out the rifle. I knew he was "a-ways out there" so helt a little high on him but still under his back. I stepped the distance off at something over 450 yards and felt a little better because that is beyond what I can do from a field sitting position with no rest!! As this happened the last day I could hunt that year, I didn't kill a deer at all that year.
