The ruger is very light. It seems very similar to the savage 10 however. But the savage 10 does come with a Bushnell scope at least. Season is almost over though, and I wonder which would have more resale value.

If you are wondering about resale value, don't buy new. Buy a used rifle and you won't take a hit in the wallet if you do decide to sell.

I am a little concerned about buying new, just because you don't know what the previous owner did to it you know?

Love them both, but with value in mind.. my savage outshoots several of my more expensive rifles. are they the absolute best? no. but are they an excellent value for the accuracy and constructions? absolutely. seriously, if you go with either company.. you will not be disappointed

Ruger and here's why. My depts. sniper rifle was a seized Ruger 308 and we upgraded it with a new stock and scope. After several years the barrel was shot out. I sent it to Ruger for a new barrel. They called me about a week later and said they had messed the new barrel installation up and would replace it with one of their new tactical 308's. I told them my dept. was small and we couldn't afford a new rifle. She laughed and told me the new rifle is free. They would do an even trade. How's that for customer service?

I have a long history with Savage.Outstanding customer service even if you are at fault. Outstanding out of the box accuracy. The same can not be said for the last 2 Rugers. 1 was a 22-250 and the other was a 77/44. The .22-250 required hand loads to shoot even remotely well. The 77/44 would not shoot worth a [censored] period. They are both gone and the .22-250 was replaced by a 110 in .243.one hole groups out of the box...typical.
