I am always worried about the road hunters. They see movement ,they open up.
I walked around a while yesterday and did wear an Orange hat.

deer cannot see the orange color, they can in fact see the fluorescent nature of Blaze orange. that is a fact. i think it it just looks ridiculous. Fat folks look like giant pumpkins. average folks look like UT fans. stealth mode for me, when i am hunting land i own of course

To each his own under the law! NOT wearing it on private property is definitely not endangering anyone else!

If you worry about deer seeing orange, then buy a bottle of UZ killer and use it on your orange vest. http://www.atsko.com/products/uv-protection/u-v-killer.html
I use it on all my outer hunting clothes. As soon as I started using the stuff, I noticed deer coming a lot closer unaware of my presence.

Regardless of whether or not deer see me though, I do NOT want to be shot so I'm going to wear orange when I'm hunting. And that goes for crows too. They are about as wary as any animal alive and they fly right over the stuff. It's motion that gets you seen for the most part. Oh yeah, I hunt almost exclusively on my own land but neighbors hunt and there is always a psoobility of a trespasser. Why take a risk?

I hate to admit it, but on my own land, once I'm settled into my stand, the orange comes off. It then goes back on before I climb down. Climbing in and out of the stand, or moving anywhere on the property, I'm in orange. Sitting still on my stand, nope.

I'm glad you admitted to it first ...same thing here.

And for me, it isn't the color orange I'm worried about. It is the large area of one color. "Camo" is more about breaking up your outline by varied colors/patterns than the actual colors used.

I slip mine off too when I am in my box blinds, up a tree in a stand, pop-ups etc. However, if I am on the ground it is on. I will not even ride my 4 wheeler on my property during seer rifle season without an orange vest on. I have run into far too many trespassers and dumb butts to feel safe without it.
