I'm fairly new to catfish fishing (most of my time on the lakes is spent bowfishing) & I started running a few jugs during the summer.
I'd really like to start targeting cats on a more regular basis, both with jugs & rod & line.
Is there an 'off' season & a 'best' season for cats, or is this something I can do year round with a reasonable expectation of success?

Could anyone possibly give me any hints, tips or pointers with baits & tactics etc?

I actually bought a second boat this fall, specifically to run as a cat boat & I'd really like to get it wet!
Wooden bows, Lever actions & Blackpowder. All a body needs!

Yea, what Football Hunter said. Specific questions please and I'll do my best.

That said, "Yes, there are on and off seasons. My favorite 'On' time is from mid-April thru early June."

Go fish below the dams on the Cumberland River while you still can!

There are some huge catfish caught in the winter time, although I've never gone after them much due to conflicts with hunting season.
I'm hungry and tired. Don't poke my belly.

My favorite times are June to October. Crappie turn on in the winter, so usually done cat fishing when it gets cold, and deer season starts up.

Sometimes you will get bites on all different things. One day you may wear them out on cut bait and the next nothing. I usually bring all kinds of baits with me. Most of the time I have chicken livers, turkey livers, worms, skipjack and sometimes brim. This year I was told to try cut chicken breast with minced garlic and strawberry koolaid.
