I am setting up my dads old rcbs rock chunker....I have beverages loaded before and don't have a reloading manual of any kind yet. But I was wanting to know if anyone had a powder they knew of that shoots good in 3006 and in 223. These will be hunting/plucking rounds....not match grade for 1000 yard shots. I think the 748 ball powder is pretty common right? Oh and does anyone have a set of 223 dyes they wanna part with?

Varget for both calibers. Excellent choice for .223 from personal experience. And I have a buddy that loads it for 30-06 with excellent results.

Varget would be a good choice for both. You can get more velocity out of some other powders for the 30-06, but maybe not needed.Varget has been a very accurate powder for me.

IMR or Hodgdon 4895 ought to work well for you on both, as well.
Yes, Varget is a rifle powder.

The first thing you need to do is get a reloading manual.
