Hey guys...
I'm about to get my CCW permit and have been looking for my first pistol. I have been doing research for months about which weapon I should choose. If I bought with my heart, I would get a 1911. If I bought with my head, I was gonna get a Glock 17.
So I go last night to get my pistol. they are out of 1911s so I go right for the Glock. The salesman and I chit chat for a while and he talks me into the Springfield XD .45 cal. Really nice weapon from what I can tell.
Now I'm thinking I should have bought the Glock.
Anyone have an opinion either way? Any XD owners can ease my mind?

The XD and the Glock are both fine weapons. If the XD fits you well then you did not make a bad choice.

I have an XD in 9mm. I chose it over the Glock because it fit my hand better and it isn't butt ugly like most Glocks. I don't regret making that decision. The XD runs flawlessly and is very accurate.

Exactly why I purchased my XD40. Just felt better than the Glock. Pull the trigger and it goes BANG every time. You did not make a bad decision.

I owned a Glock at one point and it did not fit me well. I love my XDm40's fit, and it has never given me any reliability issues

As long as the XD is reliable, its a great choice...as would be the glock. I too was a huge fan of ccw with a 1911 until the day everything went bad outside a jewelry store. In a nano-second i realized my problem and everything in my world became crystal clear. A 1911 against 1or 2 armed individuals works well, but against 4 armed robbers that are spread out... you dont want to be fumbling with reloading when multiple adversaries are 20 feet away or less. Carry a reliable firearm that holds as many bullets as you can get into it. That means an XD or a high cap Glock. I still love 1911's, but they are not the answer if you walk into a multiple adversary situation. And the problem is you never know when that situation is going to come up. If you did, you would be bringing a shotgun.
