Does my 12 year old son need a type 94 to take a doe in the Non Quota hunts this week?

Just wanted to make sure. I have had 2 different answers from two different game wardens. One said he didnt because he didnt even need a license to hunt yet, and the other said what you said.

We will probably see 10-15 does tomorrow, I guess they will be off limits to him. \:\(

You can purchase one online if a license agent isn't handy.

they don't need a license until they are 13. PERMITS are required for all ages.

The type 94 requirements for the nonquota hunts date back to the original quota antlerless hunts where you had to be drawn for a permit. It has always been a requirement on these antlerless hunts that all ages be permitted. The only exceptions have been persons hunting under the landowner exemption.

I understand and personally have no problem with it.... but I believe that children under the age of 13 should be exempt from buying a Type 94 for the non quota hunts.

Had I not ran into a GW friend and asked him and received a different answer than the first one I asked, he would have killed a doe in the morning without the Type 94.

Neverfear..We are going Rabbit hunting now. \:\)
