Are you allowed to gut (field dress) your deer on public land? If so, are you required to remove the contents with containers before you leave?

TWRA has no regulations against field dressing deer on public lands unless there is a special requirement on a WMA hunt where they are required to be brought in whole so biological data can be collected. I haven't seen that done in a while.
There are no requirements to remove the gut piles.

The gut piles are removed naturally the first night if not sooner in my experience. Now the deer should be gutted in the woods and not at the parking lot of course.

The gut piles are removed naturally the first night if not sooner in my experience.

I'd guess that on days that I hunt in the same area where I have hunted the previous day and field dressed a deer that 90% of the time the gutpile is gone by the next morning. If you haul your deer out before field dressing and then do so in the same area every time your just creating a feeding station for the scavengers.
