I got a oil injected 30hp Merc that the alarm doesn't work on. I don't want to repair the alarm, I don't trust the injection period. I assume it would be pretty easy to bypass and just mix my fuel? Anyone have any experience on this or a link to go to?

most of the time by the time the alarm goes off its to late bypass oil injector mix your oil with gas yourself then you know it has been done unless you have wty on your motor

Yes, that is what I "want" to do but I need to know "how" to do... Thanks for the reply though! \:\)

This was probably true on the early models but outboard companies would be broke replacing $15K outboards under warranty. Like everything else, the technology has improved exponentially. I'm not going back to 8 tracks and I'm not going to start mixing my oil again.

I never saw a oiler go out under warranty, but I have saw MANY go out 5-15 years down the road. Many of the larger motors have alarms that I trust, but I would not trust a 30hp. Play it safe and keep asking how to bypass it and mix your own. I would do a google search. If you put it in, you KNOW it's in. I have a 15hp that I mix my own in. Get a gas can and lable it for you boat and use it only for your boat and put the oil in when you put the gas in the can.

Just bought a new 15 hp 4 stroke. Happy to not have the oil mixing to worry with.

If your alarm isn't working, couldn't you just drain the oil resevoir and start mixing?

I would think so but I want to be sure.
