I'm currently loading for a 308. I'm using hornady btsp in 150gr. With demand being so high I've thought about getting 150gr sp. how much difference in my groups should I expect if I change or mix them.

I would probably not mix them just in case.
From what I understand the boat tail helps to stabilize the bullet.
Depending on the distance you normally shoot, I bet you wouldn't see a big enough difference to worry about.

I wouldn't be scared to shoot them but I would probably keep them seperate, at least till I compared them side by side on paper.

Hornady has changed the ogive on the BTSP and the SP Interlock over the years. Each time you reload, make sure you are reloading like batches and always site in new batches. Probably won't make much difference to really worry about, but if you're like me, I want the best accuracy I can possibly get with each shot.

Yep! I had to adjust the OAL of my 30-06 165gr SP loads when I bought a new box because of this. They still shoot great, though.

Thanks guys. I really don't plan on mixing them. But btsp are hard to find and I may buy up some sp. just hate to spend the money and get poor results. At my ranges I probably will never get to see the full use of the btsp. But they shoot good outta my gun

flat base bullets typically retain a higher percentage of their weight
