My next gun will be in one of these two calibers but I just can't decide which one. Give me your thought about the two calibers.

6.5x55 if you handload.
.260 if you don't.

I hand load and you can find tons of stuff for the 6.5x55.

If you handload, the 6.5x55 has more case capacity. Also a factory rifle in .260 will almost always be a short action. The heavier 6.5mm bullets have to be seated really deep to cycle in a short action. You lose even more case capacity and get into pressure issues.

If you don't handload, the .260 is the better choice. Nobody sells a high pressure 6.5x55 for fear of liability if someone shoots it in an old small ring mauser and has a case failure or pierced primer.
