Short ATA Bows: Opinions

So I'm working on shooting with proper form namely keeping my head straight and level looking at the target. The 30" ATA on my Hoyt Spyder does not allow the string to touch my nose.
What ATA are you shooting? I want to go to a 34" ATA.

The last few years have found me going with the trendy bows in the 28 to 32 inch A-A range. Those seem to be the flagship bows of each company. I also noticed my shooting consistency had went down but attributed that to just getting older.
Then I hopped up to a 36" A-A bow that I was planning on target shooting with and BAM...found my consistency again. I have now decided to use the 36" A-A for a hunting bow and my target bow is 40" 5/8. It will be a long time before I own another bow under 34" A-A...seems like at my height and frame, a 36"+ A-A bow really shoots well for me and fits me well.

The increased string angle of a short ATA will cause the lack of string contact with the nose . You might be able to move your peep down and try that .
I like to draw back a few times , anchor on my nose with my eyes closed and then open my eyes and see where the peep ends up , then adjust the anchor and peep . Every bow will be a little different distance from loop to peep , based on the ATA and string angle .

I like at least 30 and honestly try to stay with 32+. I shoot a lot better with longer ata bows.

Try increasing your draw length 1/2" if that's possible with your setup . Just making suggestions based on my experience with shorter bows .
I honestly don't see any advantage to a bow shorter than 34" . I know manufacturers like to market shorter bows for hunting for maneuverability and limb clearance in a treestand , but in all the years I have hunted from treestands , I have never had a limb contact a branch or my stand .
I have hunted with bows over 45" ATA in the early days of compound bows .

They work well for me. I have done a lot of bow hunting out of a ground blind. I like the shorter ata for that type of hunting.

I sit down in my ground blind and shoot . I have about 12" of clearance on each end of my bow cams with a 34" ATA . Non issue there for me .
Another thing to remember about bow geometry is that most bows have limbs that are parallel , or beyond parallel . So once the bow is at full draw , the limbs are flexed beyond parallel , and the length of the riser , limb angle , size of the cams , etc. will determine clearance , when the Limbs go beyond parallel . So the difference in ATA might not be the same based on those factors .

I never gave ATA a thought. But I also never saw a really great shot, shooting a short bow.

34 ATA feels great for me. Not against longer bows but not a fan of going under 34 ATA.
