I have always mixed salt, soda ash, and trace mineral and it seems to work very well for a central location to attract deer.

i just pour it out straight no mixing here just adds to the cost imo .if it works don't fix it

I agree. I had just never tried it by itself. Maybe the mineral would add to some minerals the deer may need though.
