I have an old 7mm Magnum ADL that has been through the ringer and it needs a crown job. I know it will affect velocity, but will it affect accuracy if i shorten the barrel. I have read several conflicting reports online, but just wanted to see what you guys thought. One last thing, have any of you guys ever done your own crown job with success? Thanks for your help.

I use a bronze mandrel I bought from Brownells turned slowly w/out pressure with lapping compound. It works well.

It will not affect accuracy, IF done by a good smith.

When you re-do a crown you might take off 1/4 inch, depending upon current rounded or flat muzzle. If the rifling is damaged at the muzzle, then you take off just enough to stay legal and clean up the damage.
