When the trout are stocked in local city park lakes and such, from what I have seen so far (3 fish lol) they range from 10-12 inches.

Just curious if any "big" ones are thrown in as well, just for kicks or by accident?

I am seeing why people love catching them on fly rods, very strong fish for their size.
I can only imagine what a true live trout about 18" would be like to catch on a fly rod.

How big do rainbow's get anyway?

Every spring we catch quite a few in excess of 20" in the river on ultra light rigs, yes they are quite stout.

A couple years ago they stocked trout in the harpeth river that were bigger than usual, more like 15 inches, but usually they are the same size you mention. There has to be a few big ones mixed in because I saw a big one come out of marrowbone where most were the regular stocker size

About 3 years ago a few were released in Cookeville's Cane Creek Park that were pushing 5lbs. I never caught one, but I saw two caught that were well over 20 inches long.

According to TWRA, the state record Rainbow is 16lb 15oz, from Ft Patrick Henry Res

You are in the wrong part of the state for trout fishing.

He's talking about trout fishing in general. The trout that are stocked in West Tennessee are primarily a put and take situation since the trout cannot thrive once the waters warn. The colder waters of East Tennessee allow the trout to live year round thus they are able to attain a much greater size.

I know the Erwin Hatchery releases their "brood" trout every spring. They seem to be in the 18-22 inch range.
