I have 700 to spend on a new scope this year after christmas. Any suggestions? I have a buddy that has a Zeiss conquest which I really like. I've also heard of Minox and Meopta. They would fall in this price range as well. I've heard they have really good glass. This would be more for hunting and the occasional range shooting.

That's alot of coin for optics but if I were to drop that much on a scope it would be this one http://swfa.com/Leupold-45-14x40-VX-3-30mm-Riflescope-P12696.aspx
Whatever you decide on (there's alot of options out that for that amount of money) I'd make sure to stay with a 30mm tube.

What caliber and what ranges will you be hunting and shooting at?
Leupold VX3, Zeiss, Minox, Sightron SIII and Big Sky are all really great scopes. You just have to decide what power range best suites your needs and go from there.

VX3 COST A BIT MORE THAN A CONQUEST. BUT I STILL THINK THEY ARE WORTH IT

Thats hard, but I have yet to see a scope that compares to a conquest for the money.

I'd go with a 30mm maintube Leupold for your price range.

if you are just gonna zero the scope and hunt the 3-9x40 Conquest is very hard to beat,,if you are gonna be shooting a lot of different ranges either target shooting or banging steel the LR/T line of scopes from Leupold with M1 knobs is very very good,,

270 WSM. Probably wont get out past 300 unless I'm just trying to see how far I can stretch it. Clear glass and good in low light conditions
