Ive heard mixed reviews on crimping 223 loads in an AR, what do you guys think? Also who loads for a 1 in 8 twist barrel and what size bullets work best?

I reload for my ARs- for coyotes I generally use a 50 or 55g TNT over 748, Varget, or X-terminator more recently. I use Winchester 64g PPs for my .223 deer loads. My rifle has a 1/9" twist. I use a light crimp for my AR loads because it makes me 'feel' better; I think most people don't crimp.

I loaded for years without crimping. Then I got a Lee factory crimp die in a bunch of stuff at a yard sale. I now have them for everything I load. Variations in velocities on my crimped loads were about half that of uncrimped loads. Also you can just crimp instead of seating bullets out to the lands on target loads.

Give ramshot Tac a try, people get good velocities with it.
