As of now, the field that is getting a makeover is a 2 year old corn field. These deer will go from getting no use out of the field to plenty of use. With the right ingredients and planting before these deer start growing their horns next spring, this should help with overall horn development. I know it may not make a huge change the first year. But, having a food plot year round with plenty of minerals and licks out in the woods, this should be a recipe for good success.

How many acres do you have? Ideally you would want at least 5% of your property in plots/fields. So if you have 40 acres of land, a 2 acre plot would be nice. Now talk your neighbors into putting at least 5% of their land into high quality food sources/plots for a couple square miles around you and then you may see an increase in antler size. That depends on whether they were lacking nutritional requirements to begin with.

The best thing you can do is improve your property to draw in the deer from the surrounding area by giving them what surrounding properties are lacking. By doing this you may see bigger bucks because they will be more inclined to use your property than the neighbors.

Thanks for the input. Any advice on a food plot recipe? Sounds like just some clover to keep them somewhat interested is the best way to go?
I stick with clover, easy to maintain, there all the time, and they eat it all year.
