Just traded for a Mossberg 935 waterfowl with the 28" vent rib barrel. I was wondering what kind of sight picture I am looking for. See some of the rib or as little as you can? Not a big shotgun guy here... Reason I ask is I shot it today with 3 1/2 #5s with my head down to barely see the rib and the dang thing almost broke my cheek bone! Lol! Looking for some insight. Thanks guys!

how is it hitting/pushing into your cheek - is the comb of the stock sticking up weird or something? When I mount a shotgun on my shoulder, my cheek is alongside and over the stock, touching around the cheekbone. When the gun kicks, it's sliding across it - there's nothing sticking up to actually HIT the cheek.
If you are seeing the top of the rib, you will be shooting high. The back of the rib should basically eclipse the rest of it, with only the bead sticking up to aim with.

Thanks guys. I have been doing some reading and I believe my comb is too high. I have to force my head down to not see allot of the rib. I am a little bit of a eye dominance mut. I can use either with a rifle but I can break clays easier with my left. Better pistol shot on the left too. I know I am left eye dominant but grew up shooting right handed. Unfortunately the mossberg didnt have the stock spacers with it. Going to order some and play around with stock fit. I think with turkey it wont matter much as I plan on using a dot sight so it will raise my head up a bit.

your sight picture should be as follows: place a "quarter" half way between your eye location and the front bead, use tape if necessary, while looking down the barrel as if in shooting, you should be barely looking over the quarter into the bottom of the front bead, most all guns carry a 60/40 pattern meaning the pattern is a little top heavy
just my opinion, I have never seen anyone who could shoot a 3 1/2 gun very well because of the recoil

once you do this, then look at yourself in a mirror with gun in shooting position
play close attention to the colored part of eye
please post what you are seeing in mirror
