Ruger, you need to come up sometime and catch a native trout in the mountains. They are beautiful compared to stocked trout.

It is on my bucket list for sure. Maybe this summer I can get away and do it. Always wanted to for sure.

Come on up to the clinch and batch some biguns. No need to wait on summer, just bring your thermals and some really good insulated waders.

There is a very noticeable difference in taste between stocked trout and trout that have lived for some time in their natural habitat. When I fish in the Caney I throw back the trout that have been recently stocked, you can tell by color and by the fins being damaged. The larger ones that have been living there for a while, I gladly take home and eat.
I can only imagine that the native ones in East Tennessee taste even better. One of these days I'll make a trip out there and hopefully find out.
