You have to have the permission of the landowner. The utility companies have easements to the land for the lines, but the property owner still owns the land.

I wish people understood this. Every season I have to put people off my land. They all believe the powerlines are public property.

Try putting up several posted signs in the powerlines.

I have a gas pipeline that runs through the middle of my place. It is not quite as wide as a powerline right of way, so I don't have too many hunters that come onto my property (except the hunters on the lease behind me that sometimes drive across my yard to use it as their access road) but the groups of 4-wheelers drive me crazy sometimes! I have it posted on both ends, but it doesn't do any good.

The road hunters where I hunt always drive the power lines. Had one drive up on me last year but I couldn't get down the tree fast enough to talk with him.

That would help but I hate plastering my land with signs. It is ridiculous that landowners have to put up postings. Too many people think they can hunt any land without signs on it. I had one guy argue with me that because I didn't have it "legally posted" every so many feet, it was okay for him to hunt there.

You might be able to check with TVA. Most the power lines I know of are on private land. There are some power lines on land owned by TVA.I know of a few around here. You'll need to do some digging around at the courthouse or get the info from TVA to find lines you can legally hunt.

Not to change the subject but I've always wondered...can you hunt or place a stand on a tower?
