Glock, and I don't even like them all that well. Relatively cheap if you buy used. Super reliable, good resale value, and they just keep on shooting.

What do you want it for? Home protection, carry weapon, or just for the fun of shooting? Home - I think a revolver is best Carry - Lots of options and opinions Shooting - Revolver, 1911, or full size .22

I would reccomend a 4" 357 Mag for all around use. 38 special can be fired in a 357 pistol, and are low recoil, accurate, and cheap.
The 357 is one of the best handgun rounds for self defense.
357 is adequate for hunting for up to deer sized game.

For shooting and carry, I guess a Glock would be one of your best choices, but I reccomend going to a gun show or a shop and holding a lot of guns to see what you like.

Agree on Glock for sure but i would seek out someplace to "Try before you buy"...Nashville area has a few gun shops that also have indoor ranges that, for a small fee, will let you run first to aid in making a decision....might look for someplace like that in your area

X2. Ruger SP101. .327 Federal is nice, too...
If you really want a handgun instead of a revolver, I personally like the Springfield XD series better than the Glock, only because it fits my hand better. They are becoming more popular and more aftermarket parts are becoming available, but the Glock definitley still has the upper hand in this category. As has been suggested, handle them before you buy them and get the one that fits you the best.
